The 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race


Hunton Powerboats will be supporting two of the teams in the 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race.They are Team Bandit and Team Garmin Racing.

BANDIT

Originally built by us for John Lindsay to compete in the RIB racing class as a RIB based on our 37 XRS hull, she has been refurbished and re-engined to compete in the 2008 race.
After structural modifications to the transom by Hunton, 33 ft long, she has been fitted with dual 496HO Mercruiser petrol engines by Marinautic.
The crew are;
Barry Deacon
Robin Reade
Graeme Youngs.
Although new to racing they are passionate about boats and looking forward to the experience of a lifetime.

GARMIN RACING

Originally a famous 39 foot class II boat built by Hunton, it competed successfully in the early 1990,s winning the Guernsey Gold Cup in 1990. It was the hull on which we based our 37 XRS.

Now re-engined by EPS Marine Engineering of Hamble with dual Marine diesel 450hp engines and MSA drives, it will be crewed by;

Iain May
Roly Mcildowie
Jeff Hunton

They will be joined on some legs by celebrity guests, including James May
and Nick Knowles
